Physician-Led, Board-Certified Integrative Medicine
Root-cause care, Lifestyle, and Longevity Medicine on the Connecticut shoreline.
If you've spent years being told your labs look fine while you still feel exhausted, foggy, inflamed, or unwell — you're exactly who this practice was built for.
Tantien Integrative Medicine is a small, physician-led practice in Branford, Connecticut. Dr. Laura Tavernier, MD brings 34 years of clinical experience, board certification in integrative medicine (ABOIM), and fellowship training from the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona — the most rigorous integrative medicine training pathway in the country. She limits the practice to 100 patients so every visit gets the time complex illness actually requires.
Instead of ten-minute appointments and symptom-by-symptom prescriptions, care here starts with a 90-minute consultation and a clinical genetic test that shows how your body handles inflammation, nutrients, hormones, and stress. Then we build a plan around your biology — not a template.
Integrative Care
Personalized physician-led care for adults with complex, chronic health concerns, with time to investigate root causes and connections across body systems
Advanced Genomics & Nutrigenomics
A simple at-home cheek swab reveals how your genes affect inflammation, energy, hormones, and how you handle stress — so your treatment plan is built for your body, not the average body.
Integrative Therapeutic Planning
Treatment plans are individualized and may include nutrition, targeted supplements, lifestyle medicine, prescriptions, and follow-up refinement over time
Personalized Care, Guided Through Two-Eyed Seeing
Conditions We Treat
We commonly work with adults dealing with:
Chronic fatigue syndrome and unexplained fatigue
Hormonal imbalance and metabolic dysfunction
Digestive disorders, including IBS, SIBO, leaky gut, and food sensitivities
Autoimmune conditions and chronic inflammation
Brain fog, insomnia, anxiety, and depression
Lyme disease and tick-borne co-infections, including Babesia and Bartonella
Patients seeking personalized, preventive, and genomics-based care
“Two eyed seeing is the ability to see through one eye the strengths of Indigenous ways of knowing, and through the other eye, the strengths of Western ways of knowing.”
What Makes Our Integrative Medicine Practice Different
-

Fellowship-trained and board-certified
Andrew Weil Center fellowship, University of Arizona. Most physicians who call themselves integrative haven't done this training.
-

90-minute first visits
Long enough to hear the whole history instead of a symptom list.
-

Genomics-informed
A 3x4 Genetics test shows how your body handles inflammation, nutrients, hormones, and stress.
We’ll briefly review your goals, answer practical questions, and help you decide whether the practice is the right fit.
Cash-pay practice. Longer visits. Personalized, physician-led. Practice limited to 100 patients
